Indianapolis Senior Photographer | TRENDSETTER FEATURE | Lauren
Welcome to our very first Trendsetter column- a monthly post where we feature local trendsetters in the Indianapolis area. I am so thankful that Lauren was nominated and chosen to be our June feature! This girl radiates confidence and style, and she absolutely killed her photoshoot.
Our shoot took place on a freezing day in the middle of May (no rhyme intended). Yes, THE MIDDLE OF MAY was freezing cold here in Indiana. You really have to love our unpredictability. Being the horrible person that I am, I wore my heavy duty winter coat while my makeup artist, assistant, model and her mom all froze their butts of in the cold. Extra props to Lauren for wearing all her summer outfits like it was 70 degrees. She's a natural!
We talked about school, friends, social media, and CONFIDENCE. Lauren attends Fishers High School, where she had just finished up a 3-day performance in their musical "Catch Me If You Can". She danced competitively for 13 years before quitting to get more involved with school activities. Keep reading to see what she had to say:
Why do you think you were nominated?
"To be honest, I’m not really sure. I was surprised when I was. I think overall, I get along with a lot of people."
Who are you in your group of friends?
"My group of friends would describe me as outgoing and not afraid to say something. I’ll stand up for them with boy problems, I’ll confront the guy that’s doing something to them."
What's something people don't know or would assume about you?
"A lot of people assume that I’m mean right away. But I’m really not at all. I’ll hear rumors about myself that are completely irrelevant and make no sense at all. Then, people actually talk to me and get to know me, and they realize that I’m none of those things that people assume."
"I don’t feel like I have a style. I dress in a way that I feel confident, and dance has opened me up to a lot of stuff. I always go with a classic look, or a sporty look, or a bohemian look."
What's the difference between being stylish and being trendy?
"Having great style- I think of it as being your own person, and you dress for your own personality. Trendy is more like you’re going off of what everyone else is doing."
What's one thing you could buy a million of right now?
"I love shoes. I love my Birkenstocks, I wear them almost every day. I really like DSW cause they have a little bit of everything."
What are your favorite stores to shop at?
"I mainly shop at Von Maur, Tilly's, Pacsun, Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe."
Are your parents strict?
"Overall, not at all. They trust me and they let me do a lot of stuff. But I still have ground rules and a curfew."
What's the most important advice your parents have given you?
"My parents tell me to always be confident and not let other people’s words get to me. It’s important to always do my best and be nice to everybody. Because you never know what anybody’s going through."
"When I quit dance, I started to gain weight, and I got down on myself. But my parents helped me get motivated to get back into working out and without them, I don’t know where I’d be. Honestly, they helped me through everything."
Do you like high school?
"So far, I wouldn’t change anything about high school. It’s been a really great experience and I’ve met a lot of great people."
What's your favorite class?
"I really enjoy sciences- not chemistry- but biology, forensic sciences, and meteorology; I think that’s really cool."
What do you want to be when you're older?
"I change my mind every month because I’m very indecisive when it comes to that. Right now, I’m interested in forensic sciences, meteorology, and maybe dermatology."
Do you want to stay in Indiana?
"No, not at all. But I feel like I probably will for college, just because of money. I’d really like to go to Florida State and study meteorology. I’d like to raise a family in Indiana, in Fishers. I think it’s a really good community for family, and they have great schools. Throughout my early 20’s and through college, I’d like to experience something else."
What excites you about being out on your own?
"It kinda scares me. Just because, even though I don’t realize it sometimes, my parents do a lot for me. Thinking about me being on my own, it’s a little scary. But also exciting."
Are you one of those people who has a plan for your life?
"I kind of do, yeah. But I feel like my plan’s always changing. I like to go with the flow. Like, I have an ideal plan, but I know it won’t happen. So, I just go with life and see where it takes me."
What's your ideal future?
"To go to Florida State and graduate in whatever I end up majoring in. To either meet somebody in college or right out of college. And then get married, have 4 kids, and be financially stable. And to be able to provide the perfect life for my kids."
Love her ambition and goals for life! Leave a comment and let us know what you think!
